I created a survey to send to industry professionals, specifically film festivals and individuals involved in creating them. Here are the responses I got:

I found the responses to be quite informative, these people have experienced festivals first hand, from a filmmaker/ film lover perspective and as a person actively involved in the process of putting on the festival. They made some great points about the importance of film festivals and the sort of thing that happens at them. I am really pleased with the results of the survey, it is always interesting to find out other people's thoughts and experiences.
The results though very few went along side my research on the importance of film festivals as all the sources I've looked at have had a similar response. It was also interesting to see if from the point of view of someone who is not involved in running the festival, they are either a film maker or a festival goer but it gives an idea of the festival experience.
