Contacting People

Discussions with actress:

I contacted a girl from performing arts who I had previous;y worked with to be in my film as she had the look I wanted for the main character. This being dark hair, long was a bonus. I know from working with her that she is capable of the emotion required and is good at it.

After all the arrangements were in place Danni couldn't make it as she was working but I didn't want to waste the day I set aside to film and didn't want to leave it any later to start filming, so I decided to use somebody else. This ended up being my sister as she was available and volunteered, it would have been a test shoot at least.

Discussions with musician:

I contacted Illusory Centre (who were my replacement band for my documentary project should Traffic Wire not be able to do it), they are a local band and have quite a weird, different sound. I thought it would fit the surrealist film well so I asked about using some of their music for the film. I had listened to a couple of their tracks and decided even though the lyrics did not fit the idea, as an instrumental piece it would. I asked about some instrumental pieces similar to the track I liked and was pleased with the results.

I think overall contacting people was fairly successful and even though I ended up using a different person in the film the music side was more of a success. I thought it was great people are so willing to get involved and help each other out.

Liasing with Client

After a lot of deliberation I decided to submit my work to the bottlecap film festival (shown below) which is held in Newcastle.

There are 3 catorgories that you can submit to; the music video/ experimental is the catagory that suits my film. The film has to be up to 10 minutes which is perfect as mine is under.

The submission form suggests if you submit online it be through certain websites, I only had my film on YouTube at the time so I emailed Darren from the email address provided on the website to see if that would be an acceptible submission.

The information they provided was not very specific so I asked about how they wanted it submitted. They were very helpful and explained the steps you needed to take. I uploaded my film to Vimeo anyway and sent a link to both.

I was going to post the paperwork to them but they said a photo would be fine which made the process a lot quicker. They were very quick to reply also which was great.
