Style: Surrealist/Art film
I am aiming to a surrealist or art film as it allows me to be a little more abstract which I would really like to try doing in an emotive way. The film I want to make is about questioning your identity and knowing who you are. This will be explored through various sequences of distorted faces and use of shadows. It will include footage of a person underwater and in shadows throughout the piece which will be the most common elements within it. I will enter a film festival that takes submissions for art or experimental films under 10 minutes because I am aiming to create a piece less than that length.
It will be silent so general noises do not interfere between the audience and image interaction. There will be music to accompany the film to guide the emotions of the audience. Whispered words will inform the audience at points in the film.
On this production I will be taking complete creative and technical control by doing the camera, sound, lighting and editing myself as well as any other aspects besides the acting. I feel confident enough to take on this project by myself and to be able to carry the work load.
I would like this to appeal to many people which I think it would do based on the feelings that many people feel in their life if not on a daily or regular basis. It will not be suitable for younger audiences as some of the content will be unsuitable such as suggestions of suicide. I would say the film would be rated a 12 at least as there will not be any actually death in the film, violence, nudity or strong language. My target audience is 12 +, specifically for people interested in art and experimental films as well as film in general or the arts.
Non-fiction talent requirements:
Gender: Female
Age: 16-20
Hair: Long, dark hair
USP- Interesting imagery, deeper meanings in story, black and white.
Marketing- This would be aimed more towards people interested in art films, I can gain people's interest through various social media sites to different audiences using my personal and film accounts.
Budget: Travel costs to any locations would be the only cost for making this film, I have my own equipment that I will be using so this will not incur and additional costs and I will borrow an edirol from college.
Locations: The majority of the film will be shot in a house which is yet to be confirmed and some on location in a park.
